Southern Steel Rod Sdn Bhd steel making facility employ Electric Arc furnace, ladle furnace and 5 strands continuous casting machines. Its two rolling mills employ EDC cooling system to produce superior quality wire rod. SSR is the leading steel mill in Malaysia producing other than low carbon rod for construction usages, high grade rods for PC strand, spring, cables ,welding and cold heading applications exporting to South East Asia countries, South Asia, Korea, Australia and USA.

 

Apart from being the first steel mill in Malaysia to obtain ISO 9001 certification during its tenure under SSB, it has been awarded product certifications complying with various international standards such as JIS, BS and ASNZ reflecting its commitment to quality excellent. SSR’s laboratory is accredited with ISO 17025 in the scope of Elementary Arc Spark Spectrometry, Mechanical Testing and Microstructure Evaluation. SSR has also been certified compliance with ISO 14001 on Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001 & MS 1722 on Occupational Health & Safety Management System to ensure sustainability.
